Every year over 100,000 strokes occur in the UK. More than half of the stroke survivors have weak or no upper limb movement. The SMARTmove project is a Medical Research Council (MRC) funded research project to develop a wearable training system for stroke upper limb rehabilitation.

A project workshop was held on 21st November in Southampton. The workshop welcomed invited attendees from academia, industry, end user communities, NHS and the MRC. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to disseminate the project outcomes (e.g. talks, live demos, posters) and gain feedback.

The SMARTmove project finishes in February 2019 and the team are looking for collaboration to take the technology further. For more information please contact Dr Kai Yang (University of Southampton).
