E-Textiles Network Webinar – Integrating Eco-Design into E-Clothing Development: A Toolkit for Interdisciplinary Design Process
Presented by Wei Wang, Politecnico di Milano
Designing sustainable e-clothing requires collaboration across multiple disciplines including fashion design, HCI, textile and electronic engineering. However, integrating sustainability considerations into such interdisciplinary design processes remains challenging in practice.
This webinar presents the development of an eco-design toolkit created to support interdisciplinary teams in embedding sustainability considerations into the design stages of e-clothing development. The toolkit translates eco-design principles into practical tools that facilitate discussion, reflection, and decision-making across disciplines.
The presentation will share the research and development process of the toolkit, including insights gained from design workshops, educational experiments, and collaborations with researchers and practitioners in the e-textile field. It will also reflect on key findings from these experiments, discussing how the toolkit helps designers and engineers address issues and align the sustainability goals with practical design decisions.
This webinar took place on Wednesday 20th May 2026 12.00-13.00 (BST).
